How much government land transfer duty will you pay on your property purchase?
When you buy or acquire a property, you must pay land transfer duty (previously known as stamp duty) on the transfer of land from one individual to another.
Land transfer duty is calculated on the dutiable value of your property, meaning the price you paid for the property or its market value – whichever is greater. How you use the property, if you are eligible for any concessions or exemptions, and if you are a foreign purchaser can also influence the amount you pay.
Use the land transfer duty calculator link to help you estimate the amount of land transfer duty you will pay. Please note that these tools may not factor in certain concessions or entitlements. When using land transfer duty calculators please refer to the disclaimers and assumptions contained in the websites.
